I am a registered midwife (RM) and also a registered nurse (RN). I started out in nursing in 1984 and enjoyed a varied and successful career. I gained a BSc (Hons) in Nursing and also an MBA. I am extremely thankful for my background in nursing as it gives me a wealth of skills and a breadth and depth of experience.

I have always had a keen interest in women's health issues and in 2001 I decided to fulfil a lifelong ambition to take up midwifery. I gained experience as a hospital midwife and as a community midwife before becoming independent. My key motivation for independent practice was to move away from unnecessary medicalisation and provide the very necessary one to one support and care that women really want at this important time in their life.

In 2009 I completed and passed a course at Coventry University in Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE). I am also a Supervisor of Midwives.

I have a lovely husband, two grown-up daughters, two grown-up step-children, two young grandchildren, three hens and a cat.
